Environmental Awarness with Wood Burning Stoves

A healthy cycle
Plants remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Through decaying and burning, they return exactly as much CO2 to the atmosphere as they previously removed. Heating with wood therefore contributes to a healthy natural CO2 balance in the atmosphere i.e. a wood burning stove is carbon neutral

The Costs: The demand determines the price. Crude oil will become more expensive as an increasing number of countries require this raw material. An end to this upward spiral in price is nowhere in sight. By contrast, wood prices change only moderately.

Stove vs Open Fire
No contest I'm afraid, which ever way you look at it. An open fire will generally use more fuel than a stove, simply because more air will be moving through the fire and up the chimney, more air means a faster burn. An open fire is at best 20% efficient, a wood burner is approaching 80%. So not only would you burn less wood in a stove, you would create 4 times the heat!

Emmissions
The process just gets better! Without going into facts and figures, I will simply point out that most of the stoves we supply are approved by DEFRA as exempt appliances in smoke control areas. This is to say that virtully no polluting particles are emmitted by burning wood in our stoves such is the efficiency.
